These blog posts will be based on my experience as a parent and teacher. During teacher training at university, we were always taught to reflect on our teaching; this was done formally by written submissions. While teaching, I usually only had time to do this mentally and having conversations with my colleagues. Now that I have moved on from teaching as a career, I will enjoy doing my reflections formally again. Please note that there will be various topics introduced; many of these are so large that there are books written about them. I will try to address them as individual posts later or try to cite some sources.
- Defining Success
- The Ideal Teacher
- The Ideal Student
- The Ideal Parent
- Memorization
- Memory
- Tests and Grades
Here is a list of movies that portray school more realistically. I will comment on these as I find time. But it's a good idea to watch before looking at my comments. This list isn't finished yet.
- Stand and Deliver
- To Sir, With Love
- School of Life
- Dead Poets Society
- October Sky
- Blackboard Jungle
- The Class (2008)
